Hi, I'm Matthew Tai and I am a professional Bartender, Chef and most recently a Full-Stack Web Developer. I grew up in Hong Kong and I speak fluent Cantonese and Mandarin as well.
I've started working in the hospitality industry since 2013 after my studies at the University of Toronto and eventually finished my diploma in Culinary Management from George Brown College. I currently work at the Sheraton in downtown Toronto. I am very honoured to be a part of Bocuse d'Or Canada since late 2015 as a Team Member. In order to better assist my team, I started designing stencils/moulds and recently expanded my services. My current clients include Bisha Hotel Toronto, Delta Hotels Toronto, Sheraton Centre Toronto, as well as Global Chef Canada. Recently, our team travelled to Mexico City in April 2018 to compete in the Bocuse d'Or Americas 2018 qualifiers and we came second. We will be going to Lyon, France in 2019 to compete in the finals against 23 other countries.
I am a firm believer of "When you stop learning, you stop growing", which is the reason why I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my comfort zone in hospitality to pursue a career change. Can't wait for what lies ahead with my newly acquired skills!
